Step One: The process starts with a high resolution scan of the document and with defects and imperfections in the scan are digitally repaired. Depending on the state of the original this can be the most time consuming step in the document restoration.
Step Two: In this step the engraving or document is enhanced with color or image enhancement to create a more vibrant and interesting visual. The color is added using a process similar to inking that was used in hand coloring of these visuals.
Step Three: Output the image to a variety of different digital formats for use in electronic media, video or high resolution printing for museum quality prints.
